daily Smith fashion

This child gives me much of my material lately. She's too cute for her own good! Bad part... I'm pretty sure she knows she's too cute for her own good.

Drew (1-1/2):
Top: hand-me-down top from a set from Lia and Austyn (Shopko maybe)
Shorts: Garanimals from Walmart (can't find them online)
Shades: hand-me-downs from Lia and Austyn... no idea where from!

turtle hunting. take 2.

Dave promised the kids another turtle hunting adventure this week. Little did they know, heeeee was the one who wanted the adventure :) Dave, his brother (Jake), a friend of Jake's, and Mallory's husband (Chris) may now officially be obsessed with turtle hunting. We went on Monday. Then they went again on Wednesday. We had over forty turtles here! Some were given away and we're only keeping a couple through the end of the summer because obviouslyyyyy forty turtles is too many!

Mal had my camera for part of the time so the out of focus ones and ones of her with the kids... I cannot be held accountable for those. She also took these of her and Chris... obviously ;)

Dave is catching one here. Hard to see...
the close up :)

I thought about censoring this next photo but that would take away the ... hilariousness! SOOO be warned... not for the faint of heart ;)

movin' into the 3rd trimester!

I'm not sure where the time is going with this pregnancy, but I'm in disbelief we're in the third trimester. While I'm not as good about my maternity series as Casey (see hers here...), I'm paying this baby back in cream sodas, mint bonbon, and lots of junk food. (I know, I know... not healthy... blah blah) You're welcome baby ;)

Here we are... 28+ weeks...

Lia is excited for baby  :)

While I see a definite change from 15 to 24 weeks, I'm not sure I see much of a change from 24 to 28 weeks... maybe in my arssssss and face...

picnic at the zoo

Because we had nothing planned this weekend, we were able to meet up with some of Dave's family Sunday afternoon for a picnic at the zoo. The kids loved feeding the geese and seeing the animals in the zoo. One of these years we'll have to make a trip to one of the bigger zoos in the state. Regardless of the size, we enjoyed walking through and seeing the animals.

of course there were pretty flowers :)

don't let him fool you, he was having a good time

We're looking forward to spending more time with Dave's cousins at one of their fall weddings this year. (congrats again!!!) We had a really nice time visiting with them Sunday!

quiet weekend

I love when we have nothing planned for a weekend. No ball games. No weddings. No parties. Frees things up quite a bit, and we get some time to relax. Friday night we decided to have a fire. We do a lot of this in the back yard in the summer. My favorite part is the s'mores :) the adults sit around the fire or play bean bag toss while the kiddos run around like wild animals. Good times!

Rowdy Drew trying out chairs

She may have liked this one more... her face doesn't tell the same story though...

kids loved this photo of the fire

etsy Thursday

Really no rhyme or reason to these etsy posts. Just randoms I find throughout the week. Enjoy!

not necessarily for your hair but these are more for decoration

Who doesn't love a fun bag!?!
THIS one is pretty cute too

I'm thinking maybe we should hit up the fabric store and get a bunch of colors so the girls and I can start making these. I made them when I was younger and enjoyed it. Lia just started making some with her friends... I'm actually wearing one right now. I think it would be something they could do on rainy days. Or when I want them to be quiet ;)

Pretty, Pretty!

I'm hooked on this chevron pattern lately. First the phone covers. Then the dresses and skirts... oh boy! uh oh... this one andddd this one. I must stop :)

another one bites the dust

Drew had enough parade and carnival when we watched one of Dave's softball games this weekend. She couldn't make it the 6 blocks to the ball diamond from Casey's house after the parade. Luckily, my children have this gift from their father. They can sleep anywhere. I know I've posted about this before here... She fell asleep. I was able to move her from the van to a blanket in the shade by the ball diamond, moved her and the blanket by dragging both when the sun started getting to her, and she still slept through it all. Then Grandpa Randy joined her :)

cheese days: parade!

The last and most photos from our weekend are of the parade. Usually parades are loud and slightly frightening to two-thirds of my children, but this year was silent. Over 4 months ago we lost one of our fire fighters (and a fellow EMT) in a structure fire while helping a neighboring city. I'm really at a loss for words when it comes to this...

Rescue 5 from 9-11 came in honor of our fallen fire fighter. Quite the sight to see. I took photos of it at the hall and didn't even thinkkkkk to get innnn the darn thing. Der. Regardless, it was pretty neat to see and have in our small town.

some of our rigs lined up, ready to go

(below) Mallory braving the heat and throwing candy. I declined their invite. I'm too fat. And slow.

As a change of pace this year, the oldest four kiddos agreed to ride on a couple floats. Peyton and Tayt went together on the Jamison Kampmeyer memorial float, and Lia and Austyn went together on their school float. Most of them said they'd like to do it again next year.
