homemade wipes

I've been using these for so long now, I had to think for a minute when I actually started using homemade wipes. We received our first homemade wipes for Peyton's baby shower... I'm proud to say I've been a homemade wipe gal since then... almost 13 years now. Whoa. Let's just stop a second and let that soak in. Because every time I think about my baby being a teenager... I cry. And then I remind him he is *not* supposed to be growing up. Yet he continues to do so. He doesn't listen the best. ANYway... the wipes. Easy peasy. Good for everything. We wipe butts with these. We wipe faces with these. We do it all with these wipes. I've even used these for my own face occasionally when I've run out of my usual nightly face wipe thingies.

What you need (links to what we usually use):
sturdy paper towel (half a roll)
**I like to use the sturdier one-ply. Tears apart at the seam easier when I've only got one hand available and doesn't tear into tiny pieces when using only one hand.
baby bath (2 tbsp)
baby oil (2 tsp)
water (2 cups)
Cut your roll of paper towel in half, the short way... I think. Look at the photo below as reference... I'm not good at these direction posts. Sorry!

Combine water, baby bath, and baby oil. Pour mixture over paper towel (while in the container). Let sit for an hour or so until the water is completely soaked into the paper towel. Sometimes I let it sit for 5 minutes and use just the outside pieces because I'm already out of wipes and forgot to make them. Oops!
If you're feelin' fancy and ambitious, you cannnn tear the entire roll apart (see below) and fold them into nice little towelettes like in a store-bought wipes container. I was feeling ambitious this particular day.
These wipes are longggg gone now. They get used in a hurry around here with 2 little ones in diapers.
Enjoy your homemade wipes! I'm actually thinking of making some cloth wipes to use with our cloth diapers. Being able to throw everything in the wash together sounds quite appealing to me... now just to get on that! :)
(feel free to pass on any links or ideas on those cloth wipes... homemade or otherwise... thanks!)

daily Smith fashion

Nash is rarely featured in this section of the blog. You can usually find him in the sleeping anywhere section instead. He's good at that. Gets it from his father ;) but today he gets to be the highlight. :)

daily Smith fashion

Some sort of bug is going through the house right now. Coughing. Fevers. Aches. I guess I'll take it cause there's no vomiting. I hate that illness with a passion. Here's a daily Smith fashion from November.

stuffed adorableness

There has to be somewhere in our budget for random things such as these. As if we didn't have enough stuffed goodness around here, but ran across these via this twitter post and seriously... how adorable are these. My children may be receiving these for... who knows... days they mind well, trips to the grocery store going well, telling me I love you, waking up... whatever works!

finger sucker

I'm going to do it. I'm going to go ahead and brag a lot. Although, I don't really call it bragging because I had absolutely nothing to do with this. Regardless, I'm going to go ahead and say it and in turn probably jinx it to no avail. Here goes... this baby is perfect. Another perfect baby. Go ahead and laugh and express your disgust and hate... but she is. The darn girl sleeps through the night (and longer) 3 to 4 times a week. She sleeps in her crib. If I put her in her crib after nursing to take a rest, she does this crazy thing...never seen it before...SHE GOES TO SLEEP! She's amazing. And at this rate, we'll have 3 more just like her. I kid. I KID. Mom, I'm joking. ;)
She started as a thumb sucker... cutest thing ever for a newborn. Now she has perfected the fingers. I have to admit, it's pretty darn adorable!

Happy 3months Miss Meg...we love you to the moon and back!

shared birthday month(s)

Austyn lucked out being born in May. She is the only child who doesn't share their birthday month with another sibling. Tayt and Drew share the month of December. Tayt shares his birthday with his aunt, Renee, and obviously New Year's Eve...poor kid. Stole the sunshine and has had to share from the get go :) here are a few photos from their birthday celebrations. I'll spare you of the slew of kind words for both of them. To keep it short...they are my everything. I don't know what I would do without these blessings. Blows my mind.

The End.

Everyone enjoyed Tayt's cake. We ended the night for the kids having cake and counting down the New Year. Glasses of wine (for mom). Low key. Just the way I like it. :)

Happy (belated) birthday Drew and Tayt!

daily Smith fashion

I shoulddddd change this to weekly Smith fashion or maybe even every-so-often Smith fashion because it's just not happening daily. Some days the kids are lucky to get out of pj's  I'm okay with this, but I'm not sure everyone would enjoy seeing daily photos of my kids in pajamas... this is from October. Oops! You'll get over it ;)

Drew (2):
T: Walmart (not online)
Bibs: vintage (garage sale treasure)

etsy Wednesday

Here's my attempt at trying to be better... at blogging... so here goes. Back to my etsy likes :)

I may be in love with this ring. I need it. It wants me. It wants to be on. my. finger! ...and now I hate budgeting.

Mittens. Yes, please.

Someday when I'm done having babies, it'd be cute to have all their initials on something like this...if they fit...

Hello, cute babies! Meg would look so cute and cozy in one of these. Preferably orange :)

Comfy sweater. Not in my price range. Boo. Casey: 'tiger ball hair' maybe?

I have a problem. Diaries. Planners. Journals. Notebooks. I can see a very largeeee room filled with shelf upon shelf upon SHELF of random planners and journals and diaries in my future. Mal, you'll be there.

Meg and/or Drew would rock these!

I don't necessarily neeeeeed another iPhone cover, butttt wouldn't this one look schnazzy!?!
